 An International Investment Forum “Georgia - Regional Hub and Asia’s Getaway to Europe” was taking place by the initiative of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The forum was last for two days,  29 -30 October.

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia opened the event. Vencai Zhang, Vice President of the Asian Development Bank and Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia gave also speeches at the forum.

The Investment Forum was in a format of presentations and discussion panels. The opening of the forum was moderated by John Defterios, CNN's Emerging Markets Editor and anchor of Global Exchange. Over 100 high level guests were invited from various countries, including: Japan, China, South Korea, India, Malaysia, Turkey, and South African Republic. The event was also attended by the guests from the USA, including Kurt Tong, representative of the U.S. Department of State. In general, the discussion panel was attended by Makram Azar, Vice Chairman of Investment Banking and Chairman Barclays Bank PLC for Middle East & North Africa and Simeon Djankov, Rector of the New Economic School in Moscow, Former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Bulgaria.  Georgia at the forum was represented over 200 people mainly from private and public sector. Among the forum participant companies was Rustavi Metallurgical Plant that was represented by its Director Tomas Blake.

Director of Rustavi Steel LLC discussed the possible investment projects with the potential strategic partners, banks and financial investors. Rustavi Steel's medium term development plan comprises investment projects for upgrading seamless pipe production and vertical integration with steel making. Moreover, Rustavi Steel can review the other projects like utilizing Rustavi Steel's available land and infrastructure, e.g. cement plant, ferro-alloy production, logistics etc.

The Investment Forum – Georgia - Regional Hub and Asia’s Getaway to Europe aims at getting representatives of the Asian business circles familiar with the Georgian investment potential, sharing knowledge and experience as well as promoting trade and investment in the region.

Within the framework of the forum, bilateral meeting of business format (B2B) were planned. A significant part of the forum was devoted for an opportunity of investment in Georgia. Within the framework of three discussion panels the following main direction were discussed: Transport, Logistics & manufacturing, Tourism and Retail. In addition, Georgian Government provided the information on the reforms and initiatives implemented with the aim of the development of business environment of Georgia. 

The partners of the event were LEPL Entrepreneurship Development Agency and consulting company - PMCG (POLICY AND MANAGEMENT CONSULTING GROUP). LEPL Entrepreneurship Development Agency was also one of the sponsors of the forum.
